helicopter/EMS expert:

Tim McAdamsTim McAdams brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the team as ALC's helicopter consultant. He is both a helicopter pilot and a fixed wing pilot.

Tim has been a certified flight instructor for helicopters for 27 years with more than 10,000 hours of flight time. Mr. McAdams holds the highest FAA license (an ATP) for both fixed-wing and rotor-wing aircraft. Tim has 2,600 hours in fixed wing aircraft, 1,200 hours multiengine time and 7,400 hours rotor wing with 2,400 hours multiengine rotorcraft.

His helicopter pilot career includes a variety of experiences from helicopter flight instructor to Robinson Helicopter authorized dealer, helicopter tour pilot to helicopter EMS pilot. He has held the position of Director of Safety for a major EMS operator. Tim also worked as a corporate Aviation Department Manager managing all aspects of a corporate flight department consisting of 4 turbojet airplanes and 1 twin-engine IFR helicopter.

Mr. McAdams has written over 40 published articles on helicopter safety of flight and helicopter pilot reports in AOPA Pilot, AOPA Flight Training, Rotor & Wing magazines. He produced and wrote the “Safety Watch” column in Rotor & Wing magazine that discussed and analyzed rotorcraft accidents. He wrote the helicopter safety audit standards for US/ARG. Currently Tim writes Hover Power (an online blog about helicopter aerodynamics and other topics) and feature articles for AOPA.

Mr. McAdams holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Science from Thomas Edison State College. He is the Director of Business Development for SKY Helicopters in Garland, Texas. SKY is a FAA part 141 flight school, producer of cost effective advanced airborne electronic news gathering solutions and developer/operator of commercial heliports. Tim is responsible for analyzing and executing company projects and an active pilot. Resume
