He got his start as a power plant mechanic in the Navy then had a distinguished career at Pan American World Airways. John was involved with every aspect of jet engine maintenance at Pan Am from line maintenance to manager of the technical service department focusing on trouble shooting, overhaul and repair. His long list of jet engine expertise includes: B-707, B-727, B-747, B-747SP, B-757, B-767, DC-8, DC-10, L1011, CRJ-200, A300, and A310.

In addition to his years of experience working for a major airline, Mr. Tauer has held management positions in companies that deal in jet engine leasing, overhaul, repair, and testing. His work as engine manager for a large jet engine leasing company, with a portfolio of over 90 aircraft, makes John an expert in this important area. Because of his experience in leased jet engine portfolio asset management, John has an in-depth understanding of the financial/cost issues of the business.
