Dr. John Owen brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise as our aviation medicine consultant by being both a medical doctor and an experienced pilot. In private practice, Dr. Owen is board certified in Family Practice and Emergency Medicine.  He actively practices family and aerospace medicine.  Dr. Owen is a Senior Aviation Medical Examiner (AME) for the FAA and he performs all classes of medical flight examinations.  John has participated for many years as a panel member for the EAA Aero Medical Council Forum at Oshkosh.

Dr. Owen is a commercial, multiengine, instrument pilot who currently flies a King Air 200 in an EMS environment, Bonanza A-36 and a C-172.  He is a current Certified Flight Instructor. Also, he is a FAA Safety Counselor.  Dr. Owen background as a pilot gives him a tremendous advantage when dealing with complex areomedical issues.

Dr. Owen is currently a flight surgeon in the Air National Guard with over 30 years of military experience. His experience includes leadership positions at both the squadron and state level. This depth of experience has led him to practice aerospace and emergency medicine in many international environments.

John is very active in charitable organizations and serves on numerous boards. In his spare time, he volunteers as a leader for the Boy Scouts, flies as a volunteer pilot for Angel Flight, and also flies patients for Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. Resume
