air traffic control consultant:

Jim BordoniJim Bordoni is an air traffic control consultant and pilot with an impressive and varied background in aviation. Following military service in the U.S. Army, which included a tour of Vietnam, Jim joined the FAA in 1971 as an air traffic controller. Following two years in Salina, Kansas and Des Moines, Iowa, Jim settled into the duties as a tower and radar approach controller at St. Louis International Airport, a high density and complex air traffic facility. During his seven years at St. Louis tower, he also did one-year assignments as both a procedures development and training specialist.

In 1981, Jim left the FAA and, in 1982, began a career with the Department of Defense as an aeronautical analyst. His primary duties included international instrument charting and airfield evaluation for the Defense Department and Drug Enforcement Agency.

In 1989, Jim desired to return to air traffic control. He left the DOD and further expanded his ATC resume internationally by joining the Canadian aviation community as a terminal radar approach controller at Toronto Area Control Centre. Following more than six years in Toronto, Jim returned to the U.S. to perform ATC duties in Miami, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, and finally Kansas City where he recently retired from ATC. He is currently using his impressive experience as an instructor at the FAA Academy Radar Training Facility where he will be teaching new ATC students in the radar simulator.

In addition to his extensive ATC history, Jim is also a commercial/multi-engine/instrument pilot. He regularly flies his own aircraft and has been trained and certified by Cirrus in the SR22 in which he has accumulated several hundred of flight hours. Jim has also served as past Outreach Director for Angel Flight Central. Resume
